Alan’s ideas (captured by Long Long)

Divide dining period into many small periods –

  • i.e. 1 hour into 2 minutes each

Count how many people enter/exit lines in different intervals (should be short, 1 min, 2 min)
Can help find the derivative of the lunch line
Important: rate of change != rate of entering – can determine the efficiency of the line (how many people are leaving the line v.s. how many people are entering)
Do it for each station (Asian kitchen, chef’s special, healthy thing, Chinese set, western set/pasta)

Potential issues:

  • one line can serve two types of food (i.e. pasta + western set)

Riley’s Yakutia ideas (captured by Galen)

We need to know the interest among the student for each line (survey)
Figure the percentage of the student body that is interested in each line
Needs people to analyze the data
Preorder food yay (like McDonalds and KFC to shorten the line)

Galen’s Siberian shamanist ideas (captured by Joy)

  1. defeat putin and spread Turanism
  2. spread three meanings
  3. Become very strong and good at math

Make sign at each line so people know the estimated waiting line

  • Get people to pre order the food, and cafeteria staffs can prepare food in advanced.
  • Can get idea of how much students want to customize, how much to prepare
  • Maybe have students set a pick-up time when preordering

Longlong’s Keskil Baishev ideas (captured by Riley)

How to capture the data since student can’t use phone?

  • Used computer based/ other electron devices-based website for time tracking (Aramark digital tracking system)
  • Set up an additional scanner to scan student’s lunch card to track the time student entered line.

RFID card

Applicated RFID system to tracked for Attendance.
How much it cost for RFID reader? (1900-2000$)
Based on the enormous data from Aramark System doing data analysis
Applicated subway’s entry system to collected entry data
Using the video to capture lunch line
            - Cons: difficult to identify, required multiple check point to check

Joy (Captured by Roland)

  • Mixing line problem (two different meals & need to consider)
  • Doesn’t know which line is for which
  • Try to separate line (but in past, didn’t make it clear enough)
  • Split the line in half
  • Instead of one line, two groups -> Two lines, one for each group
  • If you there early -> Takes ~20 minutes. Go there after crowd died -> Less time WOWOW
  • Rate of Change!!! What is the rate of change like during lunch
  • Find graph wowow. Answer the question of the rate of change
  • Either you’re very early, or very late, and hypothetically could finish lunch at the same time
  • Make it an AP PreCalculus question

Vivienne (recorded by Galen)

  • Give lanyards to time people at checkpoints
  • Ask people to time themselves with stopwatch
  • Instead of just timing the line you can time how long it takes for the people to prepare each portion
