R.I.P

This is a rhythm game-style music track of team “R.I.P.” [I] “To Her Who Journeys Far” from the BMS Event “G2R2018”. This song is dedicated to the memory of a friend of the composer, Eicatev, who passed away at the age of 21. The first half of the track used an extremely dark melody and a high-energy and chaotic beat to express the darkness of death. This made a huge contrast to the second part of the track which the feeling suddenly turns bright and hopeful. This basically means that death is sort of a determined event, and we cannot change that, but life remains bright if we forget about death itself. In addition, his sudden death also reflects the uncertainty of life and death and suggests that one should live joyfully at every moment so that one would not be regretful.

Last | Moment

Last | Moment is an Artcore genre music track composed by a Japanese composer named Onoken and a Japanese singer named Tamako Kinoshita. This piece is the last chapter BGM from a mobile rhythm game, Arcaea. The entire track sounds introspective and silent, although high energy beat and drums. The story corresponding with this track was about a regretion of the death. It emphasizes that people should confront death directly rather than escape from it, and that those experiences and remembrance would become essential to those who are facing death. The name of this track, as well as the lyrics, also suggest that every moment is worth the same or even more than death, and finally accepting death in silence is more than enough if one has gotten everything done and will not have any regret.

Requiem Mass Chants

“Requiem Aeternam” is a chant from the Catholic Mass for the Dead. It is not about fear or pain, but about peace after death. The repeated words ask God to give the dead eternal rest and to let eternal light shine on them. This shows death is usually represented as a quiet transition from everyday life to a silent, endless event, instead of a violent ending. The slow and steady melody removes strong emotion and creates a feeling of calm and acceptance when facing death. Death is presented as something unavoidable for everyone, but also meaningful, because the soul is believed to return to God. Through this chant, death becomes a moment of rest, hope, and spiritual peace rather than loss or darkness.
