Recommendation Letter for Alan
Dear Admissions Committees:
As a teacher of Alan’s physics courses and the head of the math and science department at Living Word Shanghai, I am honored to recommend this student who has demonstrated exceptional literacy and multidimensional potential in the sciences. Over the course of over 3 semesters, I am great to share his deep academic behavior and independent thinking skills.
I am teaching him AP Physics C E&M this year, and I also taught him AP Physics I last school year. Alan’s ability to learn extends far beyond the classroom, and he is able to complete all in-class tasks, assignments, and exams with ease. He got a 5 in AP Physics I expectedly. Outside of class, he participated in many physics competitions such as BPHO, Physics Bowl, ASOP, etc. and almost all of the awards he received were the best among the school. In addition to physics competitions, he has also led a group of students in our school to participate in math competitions such as HIMCM, and achieved remarkable results as well.
He also has a certain status and organizational skills in the school. He is the leader of our school’s AI club as well as the vice leader of the FPV drone club. Although I’m not a mentor of either club, I know that in his own club he takes the role of teacher to talk about some of the math contents and is also working on a project this semester.
Even though it is unlikely that he will choose the physics major in the future, I think his ambition in learning is quite remarkable. This approach enables him to be in good ranges for any subjects. He has a very clear and strong prediction of the future and he knows what he should do next. The other teachers and I rarely give him advice, he always finds himself and sticks to what he wants to do. I am sure that if you get in touch with him, you will be able to feel his enthusiasm and interest.
Sincerely,
Xiuzhen Tu
AP Physics Instructor
