Welcome!!!

Hi there!! I’m Alan Yu – a perpetually creative high school student whose life extends far beyond mathematics. To me, math isn’t the destination; it’s only the ultimate tool for creating things that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Snapshot: Who Am I?

I’m a Core-music (an avantgarde EDM sub-genre) composer on a dual mission: to integrate these tracks into video games, and – dare I say – subtly elevate people’s musical appreciation through gaming adventures.

My Multiverse: Parallel Lives

Friends say I live across alternate realities:

  • By day: AI Club president teaching 20+ members (our school only accept clubs with no more than 25 members) math fundamentals while co-developing AI models for rhythm game chart generation (on-going this year).
  • By night: Mad scientist in front of my music composition set, trying to explore new music clips with completely different style from before.
  • Weekends: Independent game dev emailing composers worldwide to compose original tracks for Domain Echoing (My rhythm game), and maintaining my 5-year job as a Bilibili uploader with 150+ videos and 2.5M+ views.

Latest highlight? Co-producing XENOVERSE I on NetEase Music with 30+ artists nationwide. Contributing composing one track to this collab felt me much more accomplished than getting any competition awards.

Math: My Secret Mixing Console

“Why’s an EDM/game dev obsessed with math contents?” We have to go back a few years :

  • 2022: Learning by myself calculus/linear algebra to construct the game animation systems
  • 2023: Using Fourier transforms to sculpt synthesizer sounds
  • 2024: Discovering data science’s power while training AI to generate rhythm charts

Turns out, math isn’t about formulas – it’s the universal key to every creative lock.

Execution: Thoughtful Velocity

I’m all about calculated intensity. Before any project, I dissect:

  • Feasibility: Is this within my current skill orbit?
  • ROI: Time/resources vs. potential impact
  • Timeline: Setting milestones

Take Domain Echoing: I compared almost every popular mobile rhythm game first. Most “innovations” I saw were just remixed templates – mine’s a innovative gameplay with trackless 3D note charts (It’s hard to explain here. You can play it on your own by clicking the link at the bottom). Same goes for music: I don’t make pop songs or generic electronic music, but rather I go for the ultimate listening experience!

Why ROSS?

To expand my “creative arsenal”. Every future goals – game dev, AI training, hardware engineering, etc. – demands deeper mathematical knowledge. I think that math majors have the most potential in the future, or maybe I should call math a tool on which all creation is based.

But my journey in math is lonely. At school, almost no one chooses to major in math, and I would love to have someone to learn and explore new knowledge with. More importantly - I want to find people who believe in the aesthetic value of math as I do. A good math community should be able to collide with varieties of ideas, and I want to meet more talented people with interests comparable to mine, and together we can make longer term progress!

Curious? Dive In:

  • Play Domain Echoing!!! (TestFlight): A rhythm game revolutionizing 3D trackless gameplay, featuring 2 original tracks installed(my demo + a Korean composer’s track). 10+ global artists already onboard for OST. Coming to App Store/Google Play later this year.
