While talking about using AI to address a phenomenon that has inequity. The one I’m most familiar with is related to music. Many of the new generation of electronic music composers are not well received these days. Many viewers will feel that these compositions are just beginners and not very advanced. But the truth is that many talented composers may reach an amazing level in 1 year or even less. This situation is getting more and more serious nowadays because the dissemination of information is becoming easier and easier. People only needs to sign up for a social media account to share their content. But the point is that the compositions written by some quite talented composers are not appreciated by anyone, everyone goes to listen to the songs of the singers they are familiar with.
In this situation, AI can be very helpful with those new composers.
One big advantage of big data analytics is the ability to accurately send contents based on individual preferences. It’s a great option to use to push music. Nowadays, music platforms are pushing through very rough tags. I can train a model that actually “analyzes” the music and pushes it to the desired audience. The music analyzed by the model could contain thousands of sub-genres (For me, I usually listen to Artcore/Speedcore, which are sub-genres of progressive EDM) . If some listeners only appreciate a small amount of styles, this would not only give more supports to those new composers, but it would also improve the musical literacy of all users.
Another solution would be to use the model to link the works of new composers with those of well-known composers in similar styles. Then publicize the works of these new generation composers through the well-known composers. This will not only bring prestige to the famous composers, but also promote the new generation composers. Of course the most difficult problem is to get those famous composers in. But I’m sure they will be made sooner or later.
