PI Tournament 2025 Introduction and Plan

  • The test will be 40 minutes with 7 sets of question. The first 3 sets and the seventh set, each contains 3 math questions. Set 4,5 and 6 each contains an additional ‘tiebreaker’ question, which will not be counted into the total score but will be considered if two teams have the same score.

  • Tiebreaker question will only be used to break ties, so make careful decision on whether or not to spend time solving them.

  • One can only get the next set of questions after submitting the previous set of questions. Scores will be updated once your answer is submitted.

  • Set 1 to Set 6 will be normal AMC/AIME style question, with difficulty ranging from AMC12 question 1-5 to AIME question 5-10. Points will only be awarded only if you submit the exact correct answer.

  • Set 7 will be some interesting estimation questions. How much score you get depends on how close your answer is to the correct answer. Score will be calculated according to the given formula.The tournament will be held online. After registration, tournament committee will contact you through we chat and add you to a group. Problem will be released through that group and answers should be submitted through that group. The score list, which will be shared through Tencent Meeting, will display the live scores of every participating team.

  • Device arrangement: It is recommended that the agent of each school can join the Tencent Meeting of the score list and project it on the classroom ‘TV, which creates a vivid competition phenomenon. In addition, each classroom requires a device for supervision. This device will be required to join the supervision Tencent Meeting, and the camera should include all participating teams in the classroom.

Scoring rules:

Set 1: 10 marks each question.
Set 2: 12 marks each question;
Set 3: 15 marks each question;
Set 4: 18 marks each question / 1 addition mark for tiebreaker question;
Set 5: 23 marks each question / 2 addition mark for tiebreaker question;
Set 6: 30 marks each question / 3 addition mark for tiebreaker question;
Set 7: 20 marks each question, partial marks will be awarded accordingly.

Prize policy:

Top 3 will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal and delicate PI theme gift.
All top 50% teams will be awarded electronic certificate.
